About a year ago, my housemate and I became hooked on ice baths. That’s how the idea for Yskamer — an ice bath and sauna studio in Amsterdam — was born. What began as a simple curiosity quickly grew into a ritual. There’s something physical about stepping into freezing cold water. It forces you to be present, completely in the now. In that moment, your thoughts quiet down, your breath slows, and everything else fades.
For us, it became a reset button. A moment of peace and clarity. A space where the outside world stops, even if just for a few minutes. That’s the feeling we wanted to share with others.
We started Yskamer because we want more people to experience this feeling. Not just athletes or hardcore wellness people, but anyone living in Amsterdam who could use a moment of rest.
Are you a student looking to sweat out last night’s drinks?
Looking for a clear, sharp start to the day?
Someone working long hours who just needs a moment to breathe?
At Yskamer, there is space for you. No expectations, no pressure. Just a calm, beautiful place to feel better in your body.
Because real rest is rare.
Because slowing down is powerful.
And because everyone deserves a moment to reconnect, with themselves, their breath and the present.
This is not about trends. It’s about offering a space where people feel grounded, calm and clear again. Right in the center of Amsterdam.
